Stages of Formation Poznysh Guitars
I could have become, an art critic, a seller of pies at the station, a football player, or at worst an astronaut.
But, for some reason, at the age of 20 I passionately wanted to play electric guitar. In the 90’s being able to buy a guitar was unrealistic, but I could not give up on a dream. I had to go the hard way – to try and make one on my own. The era of the Internet was not there yet, so the process of cognition and creation lasted almost a year and a half. My job working in a watch factory helped me achieve this dream with a remarkable result. My copy of the Yamaha RGX312 did not differ from the original even in color.
It was so exciting to make a guitar of my own that it became clear – the process of creating the guitar was even more enjoyable than even the playing of it.
And so it happened – I became a guitar maker.
Since the beginning of my creative career, 6-7 years passed before I had the ability and the desire to make instruments with my own logo. Finding a good name is a painful process. My friend, guitarist Sergei Trukhanovich helped me decide on one. I was making him a guitar and Sergei suggested using the name of his band for the logo – Sam Gray. I liked the idea, and that’s how the first signature instrument appeared.
Later, after rebranding, I once again used this name in the budget line of guitars for stores. To date, Sam Gray is no longer used.
The experience gained over the years opens the way for new searches for creativity. Simply copying the products of famous brands may provide a living, but it didn’t speak to me as a vocation. You start to have the strength and courage to make yourself stand out. And at one moment, another small personal change took place – a new guitar model Starline was born with an already established family logo Poznysh.
With the advent of the Guitar Master Festival “Guitarstroy”, there was an opportunity to prove myself from a creative point of view. I like to work in the framework of a given topic and at the same time have the right to improvise. Thus, new ideas and unexpected solutions are born and a self-recognizable style is developed. Now it no longer matters what guitar is requested – in the end they will all be in the Poznysh Guitars style.
